Update regarding 2025 Summer Institute:
MALCS will not plan a SummerInstitute for 2025.
While we lament this situation, we recognize this year offers an opportunity to strengthen the organization to meet the needs of our growing and thriving Chicana/x-Latina/x-Indigena/x scholar-activist communities. Over the next twelve months, MALCS leadership is dedicating itself to prioritizing five key areas for the organization:
- Digital Presence: Revamp our digital presence by updating organizational website and social media accounts;
- Communication: Improve communication and resources for members (current, lapsed, inactive, and potential), caucuses, and chapters;
- Member Engagement: Facilitate targeted opportunities for member engagement and learning throughout the year;
- Feminista Praxis: Institutionalize a feminista praxis for organizing, communicating, decision-making, and problem-solving; and
- Document Management: Establish protocols for archiving and document management.
By addressing these infrastructure issues, we intend to position the organization to begin strategic planning in 2025. We are organizing the Executive Committee and Coordinating Committee into five working groups focused on each area. These groups will begin their work in September. If you have expertise in one of these areas and are interested in offering support, please contact us at chicanas@malcs.org. Thank you for your continued commitment to MALCS.
