Latin American and Latino Studies – Assistant Professor
The Department of Latin American and Latino Studies at the University of California, Santa Cruz, invites applicants for a position as tenure-track Assistant Professor with strong research experience in the field of political economy in the Americas. We seek candidates whose approach to political economy analyzes how economic structures enable and constrain different pathways of change. We are open as to sector or level of analysis—local, regional, national, hemispheric, or global—and prefer a comparative and/or transnational approach in the Americas. Proficiency in Spanish or Portuguese is expected. We are interested in candidates whose degrees are in the following fields: Economics, Sociology, Geography, Political Science, Public Policy, Urban Planning, Ethnic Studies, Environmental Studies, History, Anthropology, or Business Administration. We are seeking candidates with strong research experience and teaching capacity in this field who will actively contribute to the development of a new interdisciplinary Ph.D. program.
RANK: Assistant Professor (tenure-track)
SALARY: Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Assistant level – Ph.D. in a social science or closely related field, completed by July 1, 2009. The successful candidate must present strong evidence of research activity and university teaching experience or demonstrated potential for university teaching.
